Discipline findings

Following are Discipline findings for Dr. Erin M. Biddlecombe:

2007-May-09:
Discipline Finding - In the Matter of the Complaint of Z.P. – As part of a consent resolution Dr. Erin Biddlecombe admitted to utilizing and assisting in the use of craniosacral therapy and visceral manipulation* in a manner that was outside the scope of practice for chiropractic, including as part of multi-therapist treatment sessions where patients were subjected to uncomfortable positioning and encouraged to experience a somato-emotional release. As a result of this admission, the Board of the then British Columbia College of Chiropractors reprimanded Dr. Biddlecombe, suspended her for one month, and required her to attend at six mentoring sessions relating to scope of practice and ethical and moral obligations over a three-year period, and to pay costs of $5,000.

*Under the College’s Professional Conduct Handbook chiropractors are precluded from practicing “visceral manipulation, being the adjustment, manipulation, mobilization by manual or other means, of the viscera of the body or the points of contact between the viscera and their supporting structures within the body in order to improve viscera positioning or mobility” (section 9.5).
