Health professions are established by provincial law in each Province and Territory. The College of Chiropractors of British Columbia is the regulatory body established by the provincial government, (1934), for the registration and regulation for chiropractic doctors in BC. Every doctor of chiropractic practising in BC must be a registered member of the College.
Health Professions Act
On March 01, 2009, the Chiropractors Act was repealed and the College of Chiropractors of BC transitioned under the Health Professions Act (HPA) which applies to all regulated health professions in BC. Regulations
Regulations provide further information specific to the College of Chiropractors of BC including scope of practice and resulting care authorized to be provided by chiropractic doctors. These support the authority and guiding principles of the legislation. Regulations 2009 CCBC
Bylaws
Bylaws provided by Health Professions Act (HPA) apply to the College of Chiropractors. These bylaws provide specifics that describe the board and the committees membership and responsibilities. CCBC Bylaws March 01 2009
Professional Conduct Handbook
The Board of the College establishes rulings for members subsequent to authority of the Act and bylaws. These include matters relating to clinical activities, billing, and member conduct. Additional information can be viewed at the following link. Professional Conduct Handbook ( PDF File)
College Board
The CCBC is governed by a 12 member Board composed of eight chiropractors elected from among their peers and four public persons appointed by government. The chair and vice chair of the board are elected from among the 12 person board.
Meetings of the College Board and annual general meeting of CCBC registrants are open to the public. The 2010 annual meeting of the registrants of the College of Chiropractors of BC is Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 08:30. The location is the Coast Plaza Hotel and Suites at 1763 Comox Street, Vancouver.
