ICBC Patients Seek Legal Counsel

Recently, successful settlements were obtained for two chiropractic patients in cases where ICBC initially took the position that its minimal damage policy applied. This policy includes various exceptions that may cause ICBC to reconsider its initial position, should case facts be presented properly. In each of these instances, ICBC also denied payment for necessary chiropractic treatment. Pursuant to Part 7 of the ICBC regulations, there is legal precedent for compelling payment for necessary chiropractic treatment.

When ICBC refuses to pay for necessary chiropractic treatment, or denies compensation to patients because of its minimal damage policy, patients should be encouraged to seek legal counsel for advice regarding their rights.
